Gabriel N. Huizenga is a young and aspiring artist, poet, and musician based in Western NY.
Ever inspired by things in motion, he seeks in his sketches to capture some of the beautiful moments in between all the goings-on of bustling city life. In the years since graduating college, he has honed in on two primary genres of subject: (1) strangers on public transit and (2) avian life. Inspired by several birders among his close relatives, Gabriel has taken to capturing sketches of all manner of birds - from life - in parks, along rivers, and at his family's rural home. More recently, he has ventured into the longer, painstaking, and deeply rewarding process of capturing birds in more intricate detail from photos.
Simple, human moments make a frequent source of inspiration for Gabriel, too. People across a train, bus, or cafe are likely to end up portrayed in his sketchbook. More fantastical subjects, too, make occasional appearances therein; knights, dragons, wizards, and the like still ignite a childlike joy in this middle-twenty-something's heart.
